Meet Vicar Eric and Jennifer

Dear Resurrection Family,

Jennifer and I are so excited to meet all of you and get to work with you this coming year. We'd also like to give you a brief introduction to ourselves and our story.

I was born in Fort Worth, Texas to my parents Carole and John Melso. They're both WELS teachers so we've moved around the country a number of times. I mostly grew up in
Beverly Hills, Florida and Williamston, Michigan where my dad served as principal. Along the way I've picked up three little brothers, Tyler, Kyle, and Jacob. My parents were already encouraging me for the ministry when they sent me to Michigan Lutheran Seminary for high school. By the time I graduated I had changed my mind from wanting to be a teacher to wanting to be a pastor. I've never gone back on that decision and as my family moved to Brookfield, Wisconsin I attended and graduated from Martin Luther College in 2012.

MLC had a great impact on my life and while I was there I even met this wonderful girl named Jennifer Uhlhorn. She was born in North Dakota to her parents Daneen and Wayne and has a sister, Marissa, and twin brothers, Ryan and Michael. Jennifer's dad is a pastor so she grew up in a number of places too, starting in North Dakota and eventually Baltimore, Maryland and Colorado Springs, Colorado where her dad currently serves. Jennifer
graduated from MLC in 2014 with a major in early childhood education.

We got married on July 11th, 2014 in Colorado Springs but not until after we had a year of very long distance. After I graduated in 2012 I spent the next year serving with Friends of China in a faraway place called Shaoxing. I loved my year there and will gladly talk your ear off if you ask me about it.

And so now after two years of attending Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and one year of blissful marriage, Jennifer and I are headed to Verona for the next chapter of our lives. We are so happy that we get to experience this vicar year together. Thanks for reading our story, we can't wait to hear all your stories too!
