Plan to Participate and Share!

A significant step in our planning process – guided by Crossroads Consulting Ministry and in-volving all our members – is now scheduled. On Friday, September 8 at 6 pm and Saturday, September 16 at 9 am leaders of our congregation will serve as listening session facilitators as members in small groups share their ideas and insights for future ministry. A pizza supper will be served on Friday, September 8. Snacks will be served on Saturday, September 16. Childcare will be provided and special events will be organized for elementary age children. Plan to invest – in the cause of Christ and his kingdom – a total of two hours of your time on one of these dates.

At the listening session you will be asked, (1) “What do we keep?” and (2) “What do we add?” regarding each of the following ministry areas. All responses will be recorded and shared with our leaders. What ministry efforts or programs do you envision in the next few years? How might you and others benefit from them?

Worship (Receiving God’s Word and sacraments and praising God for these gifts.)
Adult Spiritual Growth (nurturing adults to be equipped and motivated to serve)
Children and Teen Ministry (providing training and instruction in the Lord from birth through school age)

Outreach (sharing the Good News of Jesus with others, especially the lost)

Fellowship (connecting members with each other, including those straying from God’s Word)

Member ministry (helping members identify and use their gifts of time, talent, and treasure)
Additional Pastor (Yes or no? Skill set and abilities?)

Other (any ideas or ministries not included above)

Listening Session Guidelines:

All ideas from participants will be treated as good ideas.

There will be no debate or discussion at this time. (Open forums will follow later.)

When asked to offer input, participants can speak or simply say, “I pass.”

All thoughts and ideas will be recorded on flip charts or marker boards.

Our leaders will consider all member input as they begin to shape our congregation’s vision for future ministry. They will prepare a written ministry plan for our consideration. After this docu-ment is thoroughly discussed and officially approved, it will serve as a blueprint for ministry at Resurrection Lutheran and be reviewed and updated annually.

Please mark your calendar now. Plan to participate and share your thoughts. Your personal in-put is desired, valued, and needed!

An insight from you, with God’s blessing, might benefit many!
