My oh my how time flies! It’s already March! Hopefully spring is right around the corner!

RLP hosted an open house on February 5th and we had a wonderful turnout. Over thirteen families came with interest in both our 3 year old class and 4 year old class. Seven three year olds are already registered for our 2014-2015 school year, and I’m still receiving calls and emails from interested parents. If we get enough children, a Wednesday/Friday class for our 3’s may be started as well. God is good! Placement for VASD 4 year old

preschool will begin in April. We have 3 children currently enrolled for our wrap around program and are hoping to enroll more. Wrap around time runs from 11:01am (right after 4K) and will go until 3pm and includes lunch, rest time, Bible story time, and activities.

This month our classroom themes are: Dr. Seuss, Trains, and Weather. We’ll celebrate Dr. Seuss 110th birthday by reading some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books and focusing on rhyming words. For the past few weeks, the kids have been making trains in the classroom using our little chairs, so I thought it would be fun extending this interest into a whole week of learning about trains. With spring coming soon, the kids will enjoy learning about the weather and what to look for and expect in spring! Spring break is March 17-21st. I hope everyone enjoys their nice, long break! Parent/teacher conferences will be set up this month as well. At this parent/teacher conference, the children will be presenting their portfolios to their parents. The portfolio contains samples of each child’s work and is a way to celebrate each child’s accomplishments throughout the year. I’m excited for parents to see how much their child has grown! Our Bible stories for this month are “12 year old Jesus”, “The Baptism of Jesus” and “The Temptation of Jesus.”

A wish list is being made and should be up on the preschool bulletin board by the middle of March. This wish list is for items needed in the 3 year old classroom. Both money donations and actual item donations are more than welcome and will be much appreciated! Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Our big playground set will be going up in about a month! Our goal is to have it up by April so our current PreK class can enjoy it for a few months before summer. Volunteers are needed to help put the playground together. If you are interested in helping, please speak to Katie. A date has not been set yet because we need to wait for the snow to melt and the ground to unthaw, but a weekend date will be set ASAP.

The Education Support Committee will be meeting March 10th at 6:30pm. At this meeting, we will need to put together a job description for lead teacher in our 3 year old program. Our previous teacher has taken a fulltime office administrator job and will no longer be able to teach. We’re so thankful for the work she has done here at RLP and wish her nothing but the best at her new job! Notice of the job opening will be posted at Our Redeemer, RLC, and Good News. The ESC will also start planning another parent involvement session for our fami-lies here.

As you can see, we have so much to be thankful for here at RLP! God continues to bless our efforts, our congregation, and our school. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
