Our Miss Brooks - Katie Mikula

Katie was born in October of 1988 in Racine, WI. While growing up in Racine, she attended Trinity Lutheran School for grade school then went off to Shoreland Lutheran High School in Somers, WI. While her dad, Jim, lived (and still lives) in Racine, her mom moved around quite a bit. Katie’s family lived in Milwaukee for a short time, then Franklin, then Oak Creek, and now her mother, Pam, and step-father, Phil, reside in Racine.  Katie has one older sister, Amanda, who just celebrated her 27th birthday. She lives in Cudahy and works as a manager at Sam’s Club.

After high school, Katie attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. The summer before freshman year of college, Katie almost decided to withdraw from MLC and go to a university in WI for interior designing.  But, after talking to her family and friends, she decided at the last minute to give MLC a try. Four years later, Katie graduated from MLC with a Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood Education. It was right after graduation that she received and accepted the call to be the Preschool Director and teacher here at Resurrection.

Katie and her cat, Rico Suave, call Verona home after moving here from Madison. This month will mark her 1 year anniversary of being a home owner which she’s very excited about! In her free time she enjoys doing Zumba at the local schools, hula-hooping (yes, hula-hooping), shopping, spending time with friends and family, playing sand volleyball at Ten Pin, photography, going up north with her family, and cheering on the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers! Speaking of the Packers, while at Lambeau for a game, Katie, her dad, and her sister ran into James Jone’s mom and got a picture with her! Unfortunately, they did not get an autograph from James Jones.  Maybe next time.
