CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS


The church council held a meeting on Tuesday, December 18. Here are the highlights.   
  • The council began as always with Bible study. Pastor Ewings led a study on Proverbs, chapter 8, with a focus on wisdom.  

  • The following membership changes were presented and approved:   Release of Dave Nelson and his daughter Lauren due to a move from the area.  

  • God has recently declared three children his children through baptism.   
    • Wells Thomas O`Brien  
    • Isabella Mina Boerner  
    • Jacob Robert Cate

  • Verona membership stands at 331 baptized members. 

  • Monroe campus membership stands at 78 members. 

  • November average attendance. Monroe: 47 on Sunday, 7 on Monday for 54 total.   21 attended Thanksgiving service.

  • Verona: 163 on Sunday, 35 on Thursday for a total of 198. 79 attended Thanksgiving service. 

  • The council was in unanimous agreement to apply for funding assistance for a Vicar for the 2019/2020 year. The application will happen in January/February, with decision if we will get a vicar in March or April.  Call day is May 23. 

  • The next congregational meeting was set for January 27 at 11:45 am. 

  • Technology will be used to connect both campuses.

  • Treasurer reported with gladness that November offerings were $10,000 higher than budget and cash flow is very good. However, for the year, offerings are about $20,000 lower than budget.

  • Several facility repairs have been done at both locations. 

  • Additional stain glass windows have been installed in Verona.
The next council meeting is set for January 15, 2019.  Input is always welcome.
